Initially, this project was intended to last for 3 weeks, but we thought it was so fun and inspiring, that it continued sporadicly for over a year. After considering all kinds of animals, we soon realized that birds was the perfect symbol since it can be associated with such diverse things as freedom, and the avian flue. Birds are found in never ending variations of species, wich was important for us since we wanted them all to be recognized as one body of work, but differentiate the project from the ordinary shapes of street art. In wich one singel symbol is repeated to gain recognition. We downloaded highresolution pictures of 258 different species and printed these on photographic paper (scale 1:1). Great consern was taken when choosing a suitable site for the bird. Finally they would look almost real.
